How can I join the club?In order to join the club, you must fill out the application form, fulfill the requirements listed on the form, and pay the dues for the club. Join our remind by texting @cbhsmao22 to 81010 to get updates.

Do I have to apply again if I am a returning member?Yes! Every school year, both new and returning members must fill out the application and pay the club dues.

What's the point system?The point system is a way for the club to quantify how much effort you have put in for MAØ. This does not directly translate to the service hours you get, but you can check both your points and hours by clicking here.

Where/when does the after-school tutoring happen?Tutoring for high schoolers at any level of math happen every week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:55-4:00 PM in Mr. Novick's room (room #351). Tutoring for middle schoolers occurs every week on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:00 PM in The Nest at Falcon Cove Middle, but if you're going to tutor at Falcon, please be there by 3:50 PM. Do I have to tutor? (What happens if I miss tutoring?)Every member of MAØ must tutor at at least one Cypress Bay tutoring session and one Falcon Cove tutoring session per quarter. If you do not fulfill these requirements, you must attend double the sessions you missed. For more information click here.

Can I get tutored even if I’m a member?Of course you can, tutoring is open to anyone who needs help with math. If you attend a session to get tutored, this does not count towards your points. If you are looking for a way to get better at competition level math, consider attending a practice for your MAØ division or for AMC. For more information on practices click here. Do I have to participate in competitions?Although every member is welcome to participate, it is not mandatory for MAØ members to go to any competitions or take any after-school tests. The only exception to this is the March Regional FAMAT Competition, which is hosted by Cypress Bay; all members must attend the competition to help it run smoothly, but it is not mandatory to compete. What competitions are available?Throughout the year, we offer many different after-school tests through organizations such as the Florida Math League, Math Madness, and the Mathematical Association of America. In the second semester, we go on field trips to regional and statewide competitions hosted by Florida Mu Alpha Theta (FAMAT). All of these competitions are available for all MAØ members (although the FAMAT competitions may have limited seating for buses). For more information click here.

Can I compete even if I'm not in any of the competition classes?Yes, competitions are available for all MAØ members. The most accessible competitions are offered after-school, such as FML or Math Madness, but anyone can go to the Florida Mu Alpha Theta (FAMAT) competitions too. What are the driver forms for?These are forms that you must fill out for any field trip that the school does not provide transportation for, and turn in to Mr. Farmer or Mr. Novick along with your fieldd trip form. If you or one of your student friends is driving, fill out this form. If your parents are driving, have them fill out this form.

What are practices for?We hold practices for each division in the Florida MAØ competitions: Statistics, Mu (Calculus), Alpha (Pre-Calculus), and Theta (Algebra II). We also hold practices to prepare for the AMC/AIME tests. You do not need to be enrolled in any of the competition classes in order to attend the practices, they are open to anyone who is interested in participating in these competitions. Is it mandatory to attend practices?If you are a part of any of the competition classes, you must attend the practice that corresponds to your division. For all other members, you are welcome to attend, but it is not mandatory. AMC/AIME practices are not mandatory for any members, but we highly encourage you to attend them if you plan on taking the AMC/AIME tests. For more information on the AMC/AIME click here.
